Creating Mocktails for a Viking Seidr
Monday, January 136:30—8:00 PMLarge Meeting RoomJohn Curtis Free Library534 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA, 02339
In honor of Dry January (and in celebration of sobriety), we welcome Juvy Hartweg, as she explores Nordic mocktails! As the days get shorter and darkness temporarily covers our world, let's go back in time to explore the Viking Era and channel the mysticism of the Nordic traditions. Join us for some fun role playing and mocktail mixing as we explore ancient traditions that influence our world today. We'll learn about Seeresses and rituals that were central to Viking culture and economy. Bring a friend and mix up your own delicious drinks that you can use in your own parties for future celebrations. We create a mocktail version of the Glogg, a traditional Scandinavian drink, the Blott, a fun take on sacrificial ceremonies to the Gods using grenadine and pomegranate and we'll make our own version of the Meade, the Vikings go to for their popular beverage. Everyone goes home with their own fun mixer and lots of quirky facts about one of the most colorful and fascinating figures in western civilization.
